Champions of Living Wage in Scotland’s social housing sector

As the number of accredited Living Wage employers in Scotland now exceeds 600, it is clear that the Living Wage movement in Scotland is growing.

SFHA is now an accredited Living Wage employer and forms part of the 600-plus employers that have been awarded this recognition of fair pay. This sees SFHA join the Scottish Housing Regulator and EVH as Living Wage champions in the social housing sector, with around 20 housing associations, including Port of Leith Housing Association already signed up. The Living Wage commitment will see everyone aged 18-plus working at these sites, including regular third party contract staff, receive a minimum hourly wage of £8.25 – significantly higher than the highest band of the national minimum wage rate of £7.20, which only applies to over-25s.
