Communicating Universal Credit to millennials

Albyn Housing Society to discuss approach at SFHA Housing Management Conference.

Posted In

Millennials are Albyn Housing Society’s largest customer group. They are responsible for the largest proportion of accounts in debt and for most of its Universal Credit claimants. Albyn recognises that traditional forms of communication are not as effective for this generation, so it will share its new approach to communicating with millennials at this year’s SFHA Housing Management Conference.

Talking delegates through this new approach will be Emma Johnston and Emily Forbes, Housing Services Assistants at Albyn Housing Society.

Emma Johnston is a Housing Services Assistant based in Inverness. She started her social housing career in Glasgow in 2013 (with a brief break to concentrate on commercial property), before moving north in 2017 to join Albyn Housing Society. Since joining the organisation, Emma has participated in a number of projects and groups covering areas such as Universal Credit, housing management IT and GDPR.

Emily comes from an insolvency background and worked for an insolvency boutique for eight years after leaving school in 2007. She started with Albyn Housing Society in September 2015 as a housing services assistant. Emily joined the society just on the cusp of moving towards generic working. She is a fully generic Housing Services Assistant and assists the Housing Services Officer with all aspects of the tenant experience for the patch. These aspects include arrears management, allocations, voids, maintenance, tenancy management and anti-social behaviour. She is always keen to get involved with new initiatives.

Join Emma and Emily at their workshop to find out more about how they communicate Universal Credit to millennials.

The theme of this year’s Housing Management Conference is putting the social in social housing, and the event will explore ways to care for your tenants, organisation and yourself.

The conference is taking place on 24 and 25 September at The Studio in Glasgow city centre. Day delegate rates start at £229 for SFHA members (£319 for non-members), which includes attendance, lunch and all refreshments. When you book to attend both days of thee vent, you can come for £395 – a saving of £63.

Book three places and bring a colleague for free

If your organisation books three day delegate places, you can bring a fourth delegate for free.

To book your place at the conference please visit the ‘what’s on’ pages of the SFHA website.
