Consultation event: maintaining mixed tenure tenements
Monday 18 February from 12:00–14:00, SFHA office, Glasgow
The maintenance and repair of mixed ownership tenements is a growing issue. Many housing associations have highlighted concerns about difficulties faced in repairing tenement flats, with getting some owners and private landlords to pay for repairs a real challenge. The issue has become so serious that a group of MSPs from all parties, supported by professional and membership bodies such as RICS, RIAS, SFHA and the Built Environment Forum Scotland. set up a working group to develop proposals to resolve the problem.
The group has published a draft report following work by Professor Douglas Robertson. The report proposes a requirement for five-yearly building surveys, sinking funds and owners’ associations.
SFHA wants to hear your views on the proposals in the draft report and what changes are needed to ensure the future of our tenements. SFHA is therefore inviting you to a consultation event on Monday 18 February from 12:00–14:00 at the federation’s office in Glasgow. The event will hear a talk by Professor Robertson on his draft report and the main recommendations.
Feedback and comments will be used to inform the final report which SFHA will then lobby political parties to adopt in their Scottish election manifesto.
Please note that places at the event are only for SFHA members and limited to one per organisation.
