Fire safety – what’s new and what you need to know

Tuesday 14 May at the RICS in Edinburgh

Posted In

Following the Grenfell Tower disaster, fire safety has become a major issue in housing. The Scottish Government recently introduced legislation requiring that all homes have fire and smoke alarms that meet the standard required in new build homes. There are also proposals to introduce sprinklers in all new build social housing, while the Scottish Government is reviewing guidance for building managers of high-rise properties.

In response, SFHA is holding a fire safety event taking place on Tuesday 14 May at the RICS in Edinburgh. The conference will see the Scottish Government discuss the new requirements RSLs will have to implement by 2021. The session will include advice on fire and smoke alarms, sprinklers for new build, and discussion on the proposed loans for investing in fire safety.

Delegates at the conference will also learn about approaches to safety, support for housing associations, how to upgrade your fire and smoke alarms, and how to strengthen fire safety for high-rise buildings.

The conference takes place on Tuesday 14 May at the RICS in Edinburgh. Delegate fees start at £219 for SFHA Members (£299 for non-members), which includes attendance, lunch and all refreshments.

Take advantage of the SFHA’s booking offer and book three places and get a fourth for free.
