Five reasons to attend this year’s Scottish Rural & Islands Housing Conference

4 & 5 October, Thainstone House Hotel, Inverurie.

Posted In

This year’s Scottish Rural and Islands Housing Conference takes place on 4 and 5 October at Thainstone House Hotel, Inverurie. Here are SFHA’s top five reasons to come along!

1 Find out more about the future for rural housing

The opening plenary will discuss whether, with scarcer funding, the sector should address the needs of an increasingly vulnerable older population; invest more in existing housing stock; or sustain rural communities.

2 Hear from Kevin Stewart MSP

The conference will provide the opportunity to hear Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning Kevin Stewart MSP give his ministerial address to conference delegates.

3 The fantastic networking opportunity!

Delegates will learn and share solutions to key issues and challenges with other housing professionals working within the rural housing market.

4 RIHAF’s Development of the Year Award

The Development of the Year Award returns for a second year, and this year SFHA is delighted to announce that the award will be presented by Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning Kevin Stewart MSP!

See fellow housing organisations’ recent rural developments and enter your own: bring along an A3 sheet that includes an image of your entry plus text describing it.

5 Learn more about Housing’s role in health and social care

Vikki McCall will tell delegates how they can ensure that housing organisations are involved in joint planning and producing imaginative solutions to providing support and care to people in their homes.
