Five reasons to attend this year’s SFHA Annual Conference – Last Chance to Book!

Last chance to Book – SFHA Annual Conference

Posted In

This year’s SFHA Annual Conference, entitled Housing Scotland, will explore current key issues that are affecting the housing sector, including homelessness, digital transformation and creating strong communities.

The conference programme is packed full with interesting plenary sessions and workshops, but here are five top reasons to attend the event:

  1. Beyond the 50,000 – a Long Term Approach to Housing Scotland
Everyone working in the sector is keenly aware of the importance of the 50,000 affordable homes target – but what happens after the target date of 2021? This session will look at how the housing sector can make the case for a longer-term investment in affordable housing and also explore some potential solutions that can help us deliver more homes of all tenures.

  2. ‘Lobby’ the Social Housing Sector
SFHA regularly lobbies Scottish politicians but, during this session, the tables will be turned. Come along to be ‘lobbied’ by the housing spokespeople from each of the main political parties. The Speakers, comprising MSPs and councillors, will share their views on, and hopes for, the sector. Be prepared to hear what they like about what we do – as well as what they think we could do better.

  3. Hear from Minister for Local Government and Housing Kevin Stewart MSPMinister for Local Government and Housing Kevin Stewart MSP will deliver a key note speech on the current housing landscape. He is also taking part in the ‘Lobby’ the Social Housing Sector workshop.

  4. Brian Taylor, BBC Scotland’s Political Editor, as after dinner speaker
After Tuesday’s sessions, there is a gala dinner. To finish the evening, the BBC Scotland’s Scottish Political Editor, Brian Taylor, will entertain delegates with his observations and anecdotes. Brian joined the BBC in 1985 after working for the written press, including six years at Westminster

  5. A fantastic networking opportunity
With over 250 delegates attending, over the course of the two-day event, and 31 exhibitor stands, delegates have an excellent opportunity to share ideas, network and learn from one another.

This year’s SFHA Annual Conference, Housing Scotland, takes place on 12 and 13 June at Radisson Blu Hotel in central Glasgow. Residential places are sold out but there’s still time to book a day delegate place for as little as £275.

Take advantage of the current offers and book three places to receive a fourth free, or, in support of Year of the Young Person, bring along an apprentice for free for the day, when you book a minimum of a day delegate place.

To book your place at the event or for more information, please visit the ‘what’s on’ section of the SFHA website.
