Could you be the next winner of RIHAF’s Development of the Year Award?

This year’s Scottish Rural and Islands Housing Conference will see the return of the RIHAF Development of the Year Award. The award is an opportunity for rural housing associations across Scotland to celebrate their best developments.

To enter, the development must have been completed onsite between March 2017 and March 2018 and has to be located in a rural location (Scottish Government classification of ‘rural’). It can be any development from single house to large development, but must contain a significant proportion of affordable rented housing.

To enter, bring along a one-sided A3 poster that includes an image of your entry plus text describing it. You should also highlight any interesting design features, community involvement, sustainability, and in particular why your project should win!

Alternatively, you can enter in advance by emailing your entry to Karen Devin, SFHA Events Producer, at kdevin@sfha.co.uk.

All entries will be displayed throughout the conference and delegates will choose a winner to be announced on Friday morning.

This year’s Scottish Rural and Islands Housing Conference is hosted by Castlehill Housing Association, Grampian Housing Association, Langstane Housing Association and Osprey Housing. It takes place on 4 and 5 October at Thainstone House Hotel, Inverurie with the RIHAF study tour taking place on Wednesday 3 October.

The conference is a chance to reflect on the investment that is needed post-2012 in new housing, maintaining and improving existing housing, and ensuring wider community investment in support for tenants.

Other highlights include an address by Minister for Local Government and Housing Kevin Stewart MSP, discussions on the future of rural housing, housing’s role in health and social care, land issue, and a great range of workshops!
