Highlander Security Shredding joins SFHA as Commercial Associate
Highlander handles and processes 100,000 tons of paper every year and offers collection services throughout the UK.
Highlander Security Shredding has joined SFHA as a sector associate.
Highlander Security Shredding is a division of Highlander Paper Recycling. Highlander Paper Recycling began trading in 2002 and bought its current premises in East Kilbride in 2014. Proud to be Scotland’s largest, premier independent paper recycling company, it handles and processes 100,000 tons of paper every year and offers collection services throughout the UK. Its management team had over 100 years’ combined experience in the paper recycling and shredding industry – which is unrivalled in the Scottish confidential waste shredding market.
A spokesperson for Highlander Security Shredding said:
“With the introduction of GDPR, it is now more imperative than ever before to ensure that your business has a plan for ensuring that all sensitive data is securely destroyed and disposed of legally, correctly and ethically.
“Highlander Security Shredding is able to provide advice to ensure that your business is GDPR compliant. Don’t take any chances with your records – our security shredding service is proven to be ‘more destructive than a Great White’, so your documents will never come back to bite you.”
The organisation’s security shredding operations are fully insured, accredited and compliant, with the business holding ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 27001 OHSAS 18001, and EN15713, as well as being members of the United Kingdom Security Shredding Association (UKSSA), which involves strict external auditing. All staff undergo employment screening to BS7858 standards, including criminal record checks through Disclosure Scotland.
Over the past two years, Highlander has invested over £300,000 upgrading its shredding facilities and operations and now operate three shredding machines and three large, fully automatic balers, meaning it has the largest off-site shredding capacity in Scotland. It also offers a viewing mezzanine gallery, where clients can actually watch their own material being shredded and baled.
Highlander has a fleet of collection vehicles, with an array of different capacities, giving the ability to collect both small and large quantities, depending on the customer needs. This generally ranges from bag or security console collections to large, secure, closed containers and anything in between. This flexibility means it can service small, regular office collections as well as large, one-off archive clearances.
All material received into the depot is shredded within 24 hours of receipt, and a certificate of destruction is issued upon completion as verification that the paperwork has been destroyed. The full process is monitored via CCTV throughout the whole site, and all collection vehicles have trackers installed, so there is a full audit trail for all paperwork from the point of collection to the point of destruction.
Upon receipt of the collected waste to Highlander’s depot, the documents will be shredded and baled before onward recycling to a Highlander approved paper mill, where the shredded documents will be re-pulped, and used in the manufacture of new paper products such as hand towels and other tissue products. One hundred per cent of all paperwork collected is recycled.
Highlander not be beaten on price – whether it is for an ongoing or one-off clearance service, it guarantees to beat the price of your current shredding contractor. Call Highlander on 01355 241 088 or email: email@example.com and it will be delighted to discuss your requirements further.
