SFHA is pleased to announce that Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning Kevin Stewart will open its virtual Development Conference on Wednesday 16 September.

Sally Thomas, SFHA Chief Executive, said: “This is a critical time for the social housing sector, so we are pleased that the Housing Minister can address our Development Conference delegates.

“Covid-19 has highlighted just how vital safe, warm, good quality affordable homes are, and it is likely to affect housing design and development in the future. This week, the Scottish Government announced that, in response to the pandemic, it is looking to ensure all new social housing offers private or communal outdoor space, with room for people to sit outside, as well as space for homeworking or study. We are looking forward to hearing Mr Stewart’s thoughts on housing development for the rest of this programme and the next.”

The SFHA’s virtual Development Conference is taking place over two half-day sessions on 16 and 17 September.

The event will discuss:

  • housing’s role in the recovery from Covid-19, economically and environmentally
  • off-site construction
  • how can RSLs and the construction industry can work together on sustainable development
  • the benefits of green infrastructure.
