Introducing service charges to existing tenants

Service charges are additional charges made to tenants above the basic rent. These charges are for work that housing associations do on behalf of tenants that are no included in the rent but are necessary for the maintenance or upkeep of the property or neighbourhood. Examples of what could be included in service charges are stair cleaning, landscaping, garden maintenance, or the upkeep and maintenance of lifts or other equipment.
