Joint Submission on Managed Migration to Universal Credit
The SFHA and HSEU have submitted a joint response to the consultation on managed migration of claimants on legacy benefits to Universal Credit.
The DWP intends to start moving claimants who are still claiming one of the six legacy benefits onto Universal Credit form July 2019. The draft regulations will cover transitional protection for claimants who may otherwise face a drop in income if their Universal Credit award will be less than what they are currently receiving.
The regulations also cover payments for those claimants on ESA who have already 'naturally' migrated to Universal Credit because of a change of circumstance, following an outcry over former ESA claimants who faced a financial hit with the removal of their Severe Disability Premium following the move to UC.
The regulations will still need to be laid before Parliament and are unlikely to come into effect before January 2019
