Maryhill to share learning from ‘most technologically advanced’ tower block project

Hear more about the project at SFHA’s Property Repairs and Asset Management Conference on Tuesday 3 December at the Arches, Glasgow.

Three blocks of flats in Glasgow’s Maryhill area have become some of the most technologically advanced in Scotland following the completion of a public-private sector collaborative project undertaken by partners, including Maryhill Housing, the Scottish Government, CENSIS, iOpt and full fibre broadband provider, Hyperoptic.

The 20-storey Glenavon Road tower blocks, which contain 360 homes, have been fitted with cutting-edge Internet of Things (IoT) technology, free-of-charge high-speed fibre-optic broadband and a community facility which offers free digital inclusion classes.

Bryony Willet, Chief Executive, and Paul Griffin, IT Manager, Maryhill Housing Association, will lead a session at this year’s SFHA Property Repairs and Asset Management Conference, outlining the Glenavon Road project.

Bryony Willet, Chief Executive, Maryhill Housing Association, said: “We are really excited to share our learning from our Glenavon connectivity and internet of things project with the rest of the sector. We have learnt a lot of lessons at Maryhill through this innovative project, and we want to help others to replicate the benefits without making some of our mistakes!”

The conference takes place on Tuesday 3 December at the Arches in Glasgow city centre. Day rates start at £229 for SFHA  members and £319 for non-members. If your organisation books three places, it will receive a fourth day place for free.

For more information, or to book your place, please visit the conference’s event page on the SFHA website.
