Meet the Housing Scotland 2019 speaker: Nigel Fortnum

The SFHA has announced Nigel Fortnum, Director of Aspen, as one of the speakers at its annual conference, Housing Scotland 2019.

Mr Fortnum has been involved in executive search for nearly 20 years, successfully running his own consultancy, Fortnum Select, before joining Aspen in 2012. He brought with him a wealth of experience in the commercial world of agri-business with some of the leading names in agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals and animal nutrition, allowing him to specialise in the key industries of agri-business, food and drink, and FMCG within executive search.

In the last four years, Mr Fortnum has discovered a new passion for the social housing sector, developing his own specialised housing team within Aspen. He believes Aspen’s contribution to the social housing sector is to ensure that strong candidates are appointed to key roles; candidates who will drive forward the vision and values of their organisation and positively impact the communities and tenants they serve.

Aspen is a values-led organisation, and Mr Fortnum leads by example, dedicating his spare time to charitable causes and acting as a mentor for Entrepreneurial Spark, Adopt an Intern, and STem Ambassador.

Mr Fortnum will lead a workshop at the conference called ‘the talent pipeline’. He will discuss how we can ensure that there is a pipeline for succession within organisations. He will also discuss what skills future leaders will need and how we factor that in now.

The SFHA’s flagship event, Housing Scotland 2019, takes place on 11 and 12 June at the newly refurbished Radisson Blu Hotel in central Glasgow. Residential places start from £595 for SFHA members and £950 for non-members. You can also attend the event as a day delegate for as little as £280.
