The Scottish Government recently published a National  Technology Enabled Care (or TEC) Action Plan.

The National TEC Action Plan sets out a number of national and local actions to enable people to be able to access and use technology to better support their health & wellbeing whilst at home and in their communities.

With an overall aim of contributing to preventative and personalised care and support to empower more people to manage their own health and wellbeing at home, this Action Plan is underpinned by 6 core principles:

  • Citizen-centred;
  • Flexible;
  • Familiar;
  • Facilitative;
  • Innovative;
  • Efficient.

This Action Plan compliments the existing funded TEC Development Programme, which will continue as the primary means of driving local activity through 2017/18.

Commenting on the new TEC Action Plan, Zhan McIntyre at SFHA said,

"SFHA warmly welcomes this new TEC Action Plan which highlights the need to work with the housing sector to progress the use of digital to support people in their own homes.

"The housing sector is getting TEC Ready, with many organisations already leading the way. I look forward to working with members and stakeholders to progress the TEC Agenda!"
