New Scottish Government Construction Manual – How Will it Affect Your Organisation?

The SFHA Procurement Conference, taking place on the 13 February at the DoubleTree by Hilton, will hear about a major change to public procurement – the launch of the Construction Manual.

Posted In

The Construction Manual, published by the Scottish Government, is the outcome of significant work to improve public procurement in Scotland.  The manual is a guide for organisations involved in the procurement of publicly funded construction works, and this includes housing associations delivering new build housing.

Iain Ross of the Scottish Government will provide background to the creation of the manual and outline the aims of wider procurement reform.

Ross will outline some of the main points in the Construction Procurement Handbook, the first issue in a suite of handbooks that will make up the Construction Manual.

The handbooks will provide guidance on:

  • Processes
  • Governance
  • Policy direction
  • Relevant legislation

Forthcoming handbooks include the Project Initiation and Business Case Handbook, the Contract Management Handbook and the Asset Management Handbook.

Collectively these handbooks form the Construction Procurement Manual.

Attending the conference is a great chance to hear directly about the manual from one of its authors, and to ask what impact it will have on your organisation and how it can help improve outcomes for your communities.

The SFHA Procurement Conference takes place on the 13 February at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Central. The follows the Development Conference which takes place on the 12 February at the same venue. Delegate fees start at £219 for SFHA members for each conference or why not book to attend both the Development Conference and the Procurement Conference for just £375 – a saving of £63!
