Orkney Housing Association awarded RIHAF Development of the Year
Delegates at the Scottish Rural and Islands Housing Conference 2018 select Orkney Housing Association as their winner of the RIHAF Development of the Year Award.
Orkney Housing Association Limited has received the Rural and Islands Housing Associations Forum (RIHAF) Development of the Year Award for its Sands Park development in Deerness, Orkney.
Delegates at this year’s Scottish Rural and Islands Housing Conference selected the development of eight new homes for social rent from a choice of six nominated developments, which also included submissions from Eildon Housing, Osprey Group, and Ayrshire Housing.
The Sands Park development is the first new affordable housing development in Deerness for almost a decade, and meets local demand for family-sized homes. The quality of the award-winning development is reflected by recent tenant surveys, which revealed that 100% of tenants are very satisfied with the standard of their new homes.
The Development of the Year Award was presented by Minister for Local Government, Housing and Planning Kevin Stewart MSP at the Scottish Rural and Islands Housing Conference on Friday 5th October. The award presentation marked the close of the successful conference, at which delegates heard from expert speakers on topics ranging from fuel poverty to sustaining rural communities.
