The availability of land and the working of planning systems have a major impact on the ability of housing associations to deliver quality affordable homes and to create high quality environment and communities where people choose to live.

This joint SFHA and SURF conference will examine the opportunities that the new Planning Bill and Land Reform provide to increase the supply of affordable housing both now and in the future.

Delegates at the conference will hear first-hand from SFHA on new measures introduced in the Planning Bill that aim to help increase the supply of affordable housing – including a provision for Land Value Capture and a requirement that the National Planning Framework sets a housing target.

There will also be a talk by SURF Chief Executive Andy Milne on the work SURF are doing with the Scottish Land Commission looking at the development of land by communities.

There will also be the chance to hear from experts on early engagement of communities in plans, the potential of compulsory sales orders to unlock land for housing development and the support available to development better housing schemes including green infrastructure, master planning and the provision of paths to encourage active transport.

The conference takes place on the 21 March at the RICS in Edinburgh. Delegate fees start at £219 for SFHA members or £299 for non-members. Why not take advantage of our offer and book three places to get a fourth FREE?
