Risks and challenges of tackling unfactored blocks

Topic to be discussed at Scottish Factoring Network Conference on 29 November, Grand Central Hotel, Glasgow city centre.

Posted In

Unfactored properties can be an unsightly blight on communities, impact on environmental issues and have a detrimental effect on surrounding properties.

With the Scottish Government and the local authorities taking an interest in safeguarding the tenement stock, this year’s Scottish Factoring Network Conference will feature a workshop that explores the risks and challenges of tackling unfactored blocks and provide practical advice on how to overcome them.

The workshop will be led by Jacqueline Stirling, Factoring Officer, who leads the Factoring Team at Govan Housing Association. Jacqueline joined the association in 2002 and has been managing the association’s factoring portfolio for over 17 years. An Associate of the Institute of Residential Property Managers, she also sits on the IRPM working group for Scotland, representing housing associations.

As well as managing the day to day factoring operations, she also has a key role in achieving the association’s partnership strategy with the local authority to help address the deterioration in condition of the pre-1919 tenement stock, and the surrounding environment, which includes tackling unfactored properties.

The conference will also provide a legal update and look at best practice in estate management, the state of the sector and managing risks.

The conference takes place on 29 November and will return to the Grand Central Hotel in Glasgow City Centre. The Grand Central Hotel is close to all transport links, including Central Station, Queen Street Station and Buchanan Bus Station.

The delegate fee starts at £239 for members of SFHA, SHARE and GWSF (£329 for non-members) which includes attendance, lunch and all refreshments.
