SFHA has partnered with Edinburgh Napier University to offer a limited number of free places on its 10-week ‘Leadership in Board Governance’ course to members.

Transparent and effective governance is critical to the success of any organisation. Effective governance leaders demonstrate responsible and ethical behaviour which meets the needs of shareholders, other stakeholders and wider society.

The fully funded course, taking place each Wednesday between 16 March 2022 and 8 June 2022, is supported by the Scottish Funding Council’s (SFC) #Upskilling programme and applicants – who must be resident in Scotland – will have their fees paid via SFC.

The course is for:

  • individuals looking to develop their skillset and learn more about taking on a governance role
  • organisations with an existing board, looking to offer training and development and to recruit new members.

Please send expressions of interest to SFHA Membership Lead Gillian Duddy by 28 February 2022.

About the course:

The course is designed to equip individuals, employers, charities, and community organisations with the knowledge, skills and support they need to be ‘board ready’ and assist them in pursuing and attaining a governance leadership role.

The online course will consist of group sessions on a Wednesday evening and four hours of individual study each week. Every second week, the format of the group sessions will be a workshop. The personal study will be supported by a study guide, leading through a mix of set readings, case studies and self-reflection exercises.
