SFHA Development Conference: 50,000 Homes - Working in Partnership to Build Homes, Meet Need and Improve Lives
SFHA Development Conference 2018.
Housing associations are the main providers of new affordable housing and have a strong track record of building better places and strengthening communities.
This year’s Development Conference comes as the housing association sector continues to work towards delivering the unprecedented 50,000 affordable homes target.
The conference will look at what the sector needs to do in order to deliver the homes and will explore topics, including:
- partnership working – with other associations, local authorities, and developers and contractors
- innovation – using off-site construction and technical innovation or new means of funding
In addition to the focus on delivering the affordable homes target to meet housing need, the conference will also look at the wider benefits that £3 billion public funding must result in, including better places that promote wellbeing, jobs and community benefits as well as delivering housing for older people and people with particular needs. This thread will run through the Development Conference and link to the Procurement Conference the following day.
Finally, the conference will look beyond current targets to ask how can the sector deliver more homes and better places in the longer term – looking at the opportunities presented by the new planning bill and through land reform – and ask: do we need to reform our housing system?
The conference will take place on 6 February 2018 at The Studio, located in Glasgow’s city centre offering easy access from all major transport links.
