SFHA equality, diversity and inclusion resources

During SFHA’s Our Sector, Our People Conference, which took place on 4 March, Director of Operations Sara Jackson announced the launch of SFHA’s Equality Diversity and Inclusion Resource.

The SFHA Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Resource is a range of tools that will help members prepare a strategy and policy to ensure that they are compliant and competent when considering Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion.

The four-part resource will include:

  • Technical Equalities Monitoring Guide: it is intended that this guide will help members understand why data needs to be collected and improve services. It will also assist in the effective implementation of the Scottish Housing Regulator’s regulatory requirements. The guide will be available for all SFHA members in late spring.
  • Practical Equalities Monitoring Guide: this guide will supplement the technical guide to help organisations utilise the metrics they have collected to benefit tenants, service users, staff and board members. The guide will be available for all SFHA members and contains useful templates such as a declaration statement and various up to date policy templates.
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador training: this virtual training includes a series of modules plus practical resources for delegates to cascade back to their organisation. The training, exclusively for SFHA members, has been specifically designed to help delegates understand RSLs’ responsibilities and the benefits of promoting equality, tackling all forms of discrimination, and fostering good relationships between diverse groups of people outside and inside the workplace.
  • Equality Diversity and Inclusion Audit: this is for members looking for a deep dive audit to check compliance and ensure robust practices are in place. This includes virtual meetings with key personnel, findings based on a traffic light system and recommendations based on legal requirements and good practice. This resource is available directly from Change HR for a discounted fee for SFHA members. Please contact Change HR directly to discuss an audit for your organisation.

The Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Ambassador Training will take place four times over the coming year. The first opportunity to book is confirmed for May 2021.

This virtual training, which takes place over two half days, includes modules plus practical resources for delegates to cascade back to their organisation. Delegates will be expected to attend both sessions.
