SFHA Governance Conference 2017

Governance Self Awareness – Putting in Place the Right Checks and Balances  –  1 and 2 September. Westerwood Hotel, Cumbernauld

Strong governance has never been as important for housing associations and co-operatives. Without clear and focussed strategic leadership, it would be impossible to navigate the ever increasing and complex challenges faced by the housing sector. It is crucial that every organisation has in place the right checks and balances to ensure that its governance arrangements are robust and enable effective leadership.

The SFHA is developing a Tool Kit for members, and this conference will provide an overview of the first two pieces of guidance that it is providing to members as part of this work: Governance Self-Assessment Guidance and Internal Audit Guidance. Both os these pieces of guidance will act as a useful steer to organisations to ensure they are able to recognise and evidence good practice within their organisation and identify areas for improvement.

The event will also discuss tenant scrutiny, the role of housing management in governance, and governing bodies of the future.

As it was such a success last year, the conference will, once again, be open to both governing body members and staff, ensuring a variety of different perspectives will be shared and discussed during this engaging and interactive two-day conference.
