SFHA Internal Audit Guidance coming soon
SFHA Internal Audit Guidance to be Available in autumn.
The SFHA is in the process of commissioning Internal Audit Guidance for its members that will be available this autumn.
In a recent blog (see here: Michael Cameron blog), Michael Cameron, Chief Executive of the Scottish Housing Regulator asked the question: is it time for internal audit to be mandatory for all RSLs? Although this is not currently the case, the importance of robust internal controls and independent assurance has clearly never been more prevalent in our sector.
Much internal audit guidance that is currently available is from the perspective of the internal auditor and the standards by which they must operate. Although the SFHA guide will touch on this, it will focus on providing advice to the governing body and senior staff within RSLs as to what they must do to ensure that the internal audit function, or suitable alternative, is implemented and monitored effectively.
If you have any queries about the forthcoming guidance, or would be interested in feeding in good practice examples to this guide, please contact Alan Stokes astokes@sfha.co.uk
