SFHA’s Development and Procurement Conferences a Huge Success

SFHA’s development and procurement conferences this week proved to be a huge success thanks to excellent speakers and enthusiastic input from delegates.

Our Development Conference was kicked off by the Scottish Government setting out its ambitious target to build 50,000 affordable homes over 5 years.

Leading on from this, further plenary sessions looked at the sectors’ strengths and achievements, how housing associations can work in partnership with local authorities and the need to provide affordable land.

Workshops covered everything from offsite construction and funding models to planning reform and building homes for particular needs.

The conference explored both obstacles and solutions to all issues surrounding development for housing associations.

SFHA were delighted to have Cruden Group, Sidey and the Structural Timber Association as our sponsors on the day.

On Wednesday many delegates returned and a number of fresh faces arrived for our Procurement Conference which was sponsored by SPA and the Structural Timber Association.

Again, the Scottish Government opened the session by discussing the impact of changes in public procurement on developing housing associations.

Plenary sessions discussed questions such as how to undertake Regulated and Non-Regulated Procurement, RSL compliance requirements, getting the best out of ESPD, creating Quick Quotes and Contract Notices and how to revise and review procurement strategies and annual report requirements.

The workshops were once again an opportunity for delegates to find out more about specific aspects of procurement and lively discussions and exchanges of views took place.
The event closed with a panel discussion covering the key messages and topics.
SFHA would like to thank all speakers, exhibitors and delegates for helping ensure the events were valuable and informative.
