Social Housing Resilience Group meeting update: 1 December

Update on latest work and key issues.

Posted In

The Social Housing Resilience Group (SHRG) was convened by SFHA in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

As well as SFHA, the SHRG comprises Scottish Government, Public Health Scotland, Scottish Housing Regulator, Wheatley Group, Glasgow and West of Scotland Forum of Housing Associations, Chartered Institute of Housing Scotland, and Association of Local Authority Chief Housing Officers.

The SHRG aims to deal with the significant challenges the outbreak is causing so that social landlords can continue to provide the support their tenants and communities need.

At its latest meeting on 1 December, the SHRG discussed:

  • the updated guidance on safer workplaces and moving homes published to coincide with the moving of some local authority areas into tier four restrictions – and the importance of RSLs continuing to provide as many services as possible, within the context of risk assessments and public health advice
  • the Scottish Government’s recently announced Winter Plan for Social Protection support package, which includes dedicated funding for fuel poverty and food insecurity
  • findings from SFHA’s work with members on financial resilience, and plans for the SHR’s data collection over the festive period
  • the proposed extension to the deadline for the installation of fire safety measures, which has now been laid before parliament.

The SHRG will meet once more before the end of the year, on 15 December.
