Following the tragic events at Grenfell Tower, fire safety has become a major issue in housing. As well as the recently introduced legislation requiring that all homes have fire and smoke alarms that meet the standard required in new build homes, the Scottish Government is reviewing guidance for building managers of high rise properties. Some of the changes include sound alerts for evacuation in high rise buildings and extending the mandatory installation of sprinklers in new flats, will be introduced in legislation this year.
