Supporting our members during COVID-19 outbreak
Message from Sally Thomas, SFHA Chief Executive.
Understandably, we’ve been hearing from our members that COVID-19 is an increasing concern in their organisations. I would like to reassure you of the steps SFHA is taking to address these concerns and to let you know about the support you can expect from us as the situation evolves.
SFHA will support you in three practical ways:
- co-ordinate discussions with the Scottish Government, Scottish Housing Regulator and NHS Scotland to seek clarification on issues identified and provide reassurance for members
- share information with you to encourage a consistent approach across the sector
- explore how SFHA could facilitate a way for the sector to pool and share resources if staff shortages were to occur in certain areas.
Discussions are already well underway with the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR), and it has sent an email to our members responding to the concerns they have raised with us so far. You can expect further guidance from SHR as the situation develops.
Early next week, we will be briefing representatives from the Scottish Government on the key issues that SFHA members have identified.
In addition, we are working in partnership with the three other federations across the UK to agree a consistent approach to challenges presented by COVID-19.
We are monitoring the situation daily to ensure we are in the best position to manage what is happening as effectively as possible and to provide you with the information you need, when you need it. Please continue to raise any questions, comments or concerns with us, and we will do everything we can to get answers. You can email Sara Jackson, Head of Business Services by clicking here.
SFHA conferences and events
We have no plans to cancel or postpone any of our upcoming events or conferences. This is in line with current guidance from NHS Scotland, which is for individuals to take common-sense precautions but otherwise “continue to go to work, school and other public places”.
The health and safety of our members, staff and delegates will always be our top priority, so we are reading all official advice and will update you if our position changes.
You will find further resources on the SFHA website on our COVID-19 webpage, which we will keep updated with the latest information, advice and FAQs.
If there’s anything else you need, please just let us know.
