The Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 – What do you need to know?
SFHA Housing Management Conference, 25 & 26 September, The Studio, Glasgow
The social housing provisions of the Housing (Scotland) Act 2014 will soon come into force, which will result in a number of new powers as well as some new duties for social landlords.
The Act will bring changes in areas, including:
- Allocations and suspensions;
- Evictions based on criminal behaviour;
- New rules on short SSTs based on previous antisocial behaviour;
- Short SSTs for homeowners;
- Assignation, subletting, joint tenancies and succession; and
- Recovery of properties designed or adapted for special needs.
At the SFHA Housing Management Conference, which takes place on 25 and 26 September at The Studio in Glasgow, Anne Cook from the Scottish Government will recount for delegates what the social housing provisions are, and what landlords need do now in order to be ready for commencement.
Delegates will have chance to network with each other; discuss the status of their own arrangements; and reflect on what they need to do to get ready for the Act coming into force.
Delegates will also hear about other key issues and initiatives relevant to housing management professionals, including rapid rehousing, moving services online, universal credit, managing stress, wellness, and GDPR.
This year’s Housing Management Conference takes place on 25 and 26 September at The Studio in Glasgow. Day delegate places start at £219 (SFHA members). Delegates can also book both days for £375 – saving £63 - or book three places and get a fourth FREE!
