What are you looking forward to at SFHA Annual Conference 2017?

SFHA members detail what they are looking forward to at this year’s event.

This year’s SFHA Annual Conference brings the sector together to discuss ‘Housing the Future’. Come along and join fellow innovators to spark ideas and push boundaries to ensure the sector is prepared to house the tenants of tomorrow.

Here some SFHA members detail what they are looking forward to at this year’s event.

Teresa McNally from Ochill View Housing Association, said:

“This is a challenging time for us all, meeting housing need by maintaining, building and providing more affordable homes. At times of change come opportunities to meet that need in partnership with others.

“This conference is well worth attending as, together, we can share, discuss, plan, and influence the exciting future for social housing across Scotland.”

Susan Bell, Corporate Manager at Fairfield Housing Co-operative, is looking forward to chairing the session on apprenticeships, which will look back at the SFHA Apprentice Challenge, held during the previous three annual conferences, and catch up with some of the young people who took part. It will also see the ministerial launch of the SFHA’s joint ‘Housing Sector Apprenticeship Action Plan’ with Skills Development Scotland.

Susan said:

“The Apprentice Challenge was always refreshing, and it was great to see so many young people coming into the sector with fresh ideas and ambition.”

Pat Cahill, Chief Executive of Sanctuary Housing Association, is interested in the succession planning session, she said:

“By nurturing talent, housing associations are well placed to tackle future political, societal and economic challenges.”
