Winter Destitution Surgery Dates Announced
Positive Action in Housing announce dates of Winter Destitution Surgery
On 20 and 21 December, Positive Action in Housing is running its Annual Winter Destitution Surgery.
PAIH provide emergency crisis payments, food cards, hygiene packs and bus passes to
people fleeing war and persecution who find themselves at risk of destitution or hunger. Books for children and hot soup and home made bread will also be provided.
Last year, PAIH saw 269 families and individuals over two days, which helped them through Christmas and New Year. This year, PAIH expect to receive 400 referrals. The levels of destitution and hunger are getting worse, with help provided for vulnerable refugees and asylum seekers from Syria, Eritrea, Iraq, Afghanistan, Yemen and elsewhere.
At the 2016 winter surgery, PAIH is offering crisis payments to destitute refugees in Glasgow, Edinburgh, London and elsewhere across the UK through its Room for Refugees Hosting scheme.
PAIH is appealing for financial donations to assist families and individuals at risk over Christmas and throughout the winter period. All money will go directly assisting those in need.
