SFHA comment on Housing in construction output statistics, Great Britain: 2010 to 2019
Commenting on the release today of the Housing in Construction Output Statistics, Great Britain: 2010 to 2019, Sally Thomas, Chief Executive of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA), said:
“We are, of course, delighted to see that Scotland is helping to provide many of the affordable homes the UK needs.
“Social housing does so much for so many by providing warm, safe and affordable homes for people who need them, enabling government to deliver on its primary responsibility to ensure all its citizens have a good home.
“However, it is important that momentum is not lost during the final stages of this affordable housing supply programme or once it ends in 2021. There remains significant housing need, with over 160,000 households on waiting lists in Scotland. The only way to meet current and future housing need is for the Scottish Government to commit to investment in affordable housing after this parliamentary term.”
