Property Repairs & Asset Management Conference 2018 – Available to Book Now!

This year’s conference will take place on 11 September 2018 at Murrayfield Stadium in Edinburgh and is open to all of those who are interested in attending.

Following the tragic fire at Grenfell Tower in London there has, rightly, been a major focus on fire safety in Scotland.  The conference will look at best practice in fire safety as well as hearing from the Scottish Government on forthcoming new standards on fire safety for social landlords.

Increasing energy efficiency has been a key driver for maintenance and asset management staff since the introduction of the Scottish Housing Quality Standard.  With concerns about climate change and rising fuel costs, the issue has never been higher up the agenda.

The conference will look at progress to the 2020 Energy Efficiency Standards for Social Housing (EESSH), consider the Scottish Government’s plans to eradicate fuel poverty and will also include a keynote session to consider the challenging new energy efficiency standards planned for beyond 2020.

We will also look to the future and ask, can digital technology and innovation improve the services that we provide to tenants?  Can they help us to improve asset management through the use of new approaches such as Building Information Management (BIM)?

With these major themes plus a range of workshops covering procurement, regulation, gas and electrical safety, renewable heat and energy efficiency and mobile working – there is something for everyone involved in maintenance and asset management at this conference.

We have also introduced a fresh, new conference format for 2018. Delegates will have the opportunity to network, catch up on the latest policy developments, and hear examples of best practice, all in one day.

Delegates can continue to add value to their day even as the conference ends. A buffet and drinks reception after the final session will give delegates and exhibitors an extended networking opportunity.

This year we are giving commercial and supporting associates the chance to pitch their workshop! These lively discussion sessions will be at the heart of the conference, and we’d like to hear your workshop ideas on issues that are critical to those who work in property repairs or asset management.

There is the chance to pitch for one workshop at each of the two workshop blocks on 11 September and workshops will be in 60 minute time slots.

This opportunity is open to Commercial and Supporting Associates of the SFHA. If you have an idea, we would like to hear from you. To enter, send your workshop pitch to events@sfha.co.uk; the deadline is Friday 3 August 2018.
