ALISS – connecting communities

SFHA and GWSF held a roundtable meeting at SFHA offices on 17 April with a number of members to talk about what housing associations already do to help tackle social isolation and loneliness. The conversation was very interesting, and we are working with NHS Scotland to produce a response to the consultation.

During the discussion, the topic of duplication and signposting was brought up. ALISS – a Local Information System for Scotland was suggested as a possible tool to help understand what is going on in each area. Some attendees at the meeting had not heard of it, so it makes sense to share with SFHA members.

ALISS is funded by the Scottish Government and delivered by the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE).

ALISS key objectives are:

• to increase the availability of health and wellbeing information for people living with long term conditions, disabled people and unpaid carers
• to support people, communities, professionals and organisations that have information to share
• to ensure that stakeholders are informed, skilled and confident in the use and application of web services and that they are connected as part of a wider community of practice
• to ensure that ALISS is used and is strategically aligned with Scottish health and social care needs.

It would be great to hear if SFHA members already use this or if they already contribute to ALISS.
