Housing Innovation - SFHA 'Service Transformation' projects kick off!

The innovation action plan continues with three projects on service transformation, which will be delivered by team members over a six-week period.

The SFHA Innovation and Future Thinking initiative’s second set of projects kicks off this week following three successful Innovation Boot Camps which took place during August and September 2018.

The second Innovation Boot Camp brought together a team to generate ideas on the theme of Customer Service Transformation. Teams at all three boot camps used a range of innovation and engagement tools, and have now agreed an action plan for the innovation programme.

Continuing this action plan are three projects on service transformation, which will be delivered by team members over a six-week period.

Meet the teams

The first project will focus on ‘design thinking’. Led by Professor Ken Gibb from the University of Glasgow and UK Centre for Collaborative Housing Evidence (CacHE), the project will explore how design thinking could help housing associations to plan services for the future, and how SFHA can support housing associations to take this forward.

The second project team is led by Neil Clapperton, CEO of Grampian Housing Association, and involves designing a ‘research pack’ which will engage staff, tenants and board members on the future of housing services.

At the end of the six-week project, the team will have produced a package of materials – remember to check the SFHA website for further updates!

The third and final project will look at the possibility of improving Wi-Fi access for tenants.

Brian Gannon, Head of Housing at Thenue Housing Association, and Graeme Hamilton from Blackwood will jointly lead the team to explore the potential of housing associations working collaboratively to improve tenants’ internet access.
