In focus: SFHA ‘Poverty and Impact’ projects

‘Poverty and Impact’ projects continues as part of the SFHA Innovation and Future Thinking initiative.

The SFHA Innovation and Future Thinking initiative’s first set of projects kicked off in September, following three successful Innovation Boot Camps which took place during August and September 2018.

The first Innovation Boot Camp brought together a team to generate ideas on the theme of Tackling Poverty and Demonstrating Impact. Teams used a range of innovation and engagement tools, and have now agreed an action plan for the innovation programme.

Part of this action plan is a project to design an awareness campaign with key sector partners to promote the work of housing associations in relation to social justice. Led by Conor Hill, SFHA Policy and Public Affairs Officer, the project brought together a team from across the sector to think of ways to raise awareness of housing associations’ impact in tackling poverty.

Speaking about the project, Conor said: “Tackling poverty and inequality is one of SFHA’s strategic priorities, so I’m delighted to be leading this project to promote the excellent work done by our members to achieve this aim.”

“The purpose of the campaign is to raise awareness of the vital role housing associations and co-operatives play in improving the lives of their tenants and communities. I’ve really enjoyed working with the project team to come up with innovative and exciting ways to share this message.”

Over a period of six weeks, the team have produced a communications plan to be delivered in 2019. The team will share the draft plan with the rest of the Housing Innovation Community at an upcoming innovation event in January.

Conor continued: “I’m looking forward to sharing our draft campaign plan in January. The Housing Innovation Community has an amazing breadth of skills and experience, so I’m sure they’ll have lots of good ideas to contribute!

“Once we finalise the plan with the help of our colleagues, we’ll start work to deliver the plan. Watch this space!”
