Loretto Care's Musical Project, Ensemble, fights stigma and improves mental health
Loretto Care’s Ensemble was created after securing funding from mental health charity See Me.
The organisation invited young people who receive support from Loretto Care - along with staff, tenants and customers of any part of Wheatley Group - who have lived experience of mental health problems (and the stigma that surrounds it) to join and take part in song-writing and musical composition workshops and performances.
The Ensemble has been very successful in terms of bringing people together socially and has created opportunities through exhibitions for self-expression and sharing stories as well as supporting recovery and building confidence.
An overwhelmed Whitney told us that Ensemble was an ‘amazing’ project to be involved in. And to say she was gobsmacked when Nicola Sturgeon labelled the song as ‘powerful’ would be an understatement!
