SFHA response: Ofgem consultation on extending protections for non-E7 restricted meter customers
The consultation sought views on the extension of protections for those on restricted meters and therefore unable to access the cheapest tariffs - a particular concern for our members in the Highlands and Islands, where tenants are forced to rely on electricity as their main source of fuel.
In 2014, Ofgem referred the energy market to the Competitions and Markets Authority (CMA) for investigation, as they were concerned that competition was not working well for energy consumers.
