The loan will help Home Scotland deliver just under 900 homes across the country over the next five years, which include a mix of social rent and mid-market rent.
Tenants were surveyed and from that exercise it became clear there was a demand for bike storage.
The new homes, located on an already established residential street, are placed near public transport links, green spaces and shops at a nearby retail park.
The development comprises of a mix of family houses, bungalows and upper and lower colony style flats.
The funding from the Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme will be spent on 1930s sandstone properties in Stakeford, Dumfries, with spending to be prioritised on the estates most poorly insulated properties – homes with energy performance certificate (EPC) ratings of D or below.
The development was supported by Glasgow City Council and the Scottish Government with grant funding of £4.38 million.
Properties in Burghead, Garmouth, Keith, and Aberchirder are now benefitting from heat pumps, together representing around 20% of Osprey’s ‘off-gas’ homes.
