SHR regulation of social housing discussion paper

The SHR has launched the first stage of its review ot the regulatory framework.  It has issued a discussion paper, available on the SHR website here: SHR discussion paper Responses are due by 11 August 2023, and SFHA is seeking input from members to its response.

SFHA response to data protection proposals (June 2023)

UK Government is currently considering the Data Protection and Digital Information (No 2) Bill. SFHA has submitted a brief response.  SFHA commissioned TC Young to produce a briefing on the contents of the Bill for SFHA members, to highlight those areas most relevant to RSLs.

Potential changes to data protection legislation (May 2023)

Uk Government is currently seeking views on the Data Protection and Digital Information (No 2) Bill. The Bill is currently at Committee stage, so there may be changes to what is proposed by the Bill depending on its progress through Parliament. The expected deadline for comment is 13 June and SFHA will be submitting a brief response. SFHA has commissioned TC Young to produce a briefing on the contents of the Bill for SFHA members, to highlight those areas most relevant to RSLs.

Regulatory framework in practice research - report now available

A report outlining the key findings and recommendations of SHR's regulatory framework in practice research is now available to all SFHA members. SFHA commissioned Altair in February to produce the report, which will now be used to inform our response to the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR)'s upcoming review of its regulatory framework.

Housing sector comes together to publish second putting safety first briefing

SFHA is delighted to publish the second briefing in the “Putting Safety First” series. It has been developed by Campbell Tickell on behalf of the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA) in partnership with the Association of Local Authority Chief Housing Officers (ALACHO) and Chartered Institute of Housing (CIH).  We also gratefully acknowledge the support for this work from the Scottish Housing Regulator (SHR).  This briefing note expands on a webinar Campbell Tickell delivered in March 2023 which was aimed at governing body members of RSLs.

First elected as Chair in 2021, Linda Leslie has been a board member at the association since 2015 and serves on Kingdom’s Policy Committee as well as being a Director with Kingdom’s subsidiary, Kingdom Support & Care, since 2018.

Cathie takes the chair at Eildon Group as it reaches 50th anniversary

Cathie Fancy takes up the role from Dave Alexander who stepped down after nine years on the Eildon Board. She retired from a career in housing in 2018, having worked in a range of senior posts in both the university sector and local government.
