Summary

Housing Associations and co-operatives provide 'affordable homes' to people in housing need.

Most housing associations and co-operatives aim to keep rents affordable as part of their business model, and they tend to do this through state investment, rental income, borrowing and reserves.

The Scottish Housing Regulator also takes a view on how affordable tenants find rents and if tenants feel they get 'value for money' from the services provided by their landlords.

The SFHA supports members in relation to affordability and value for money through publication of research and guidance, as well as relevant events relating to affordability.
