About the Conference
Strong governance has never been as important for housing associations and co-operatives. Without clear and focussed strategic leadership, it would be impossible to navigate the ever increasing and complex challenges faced by our sector. It is crucial that every organisation has in place the right checks and balances to ensure that their governance arrangements are robust, and enabling effective leadership.
SFHA is developing a Tool Kit for members, and this Conference will provide an overview of the first two pieces of guidance we are providing to members as part of this work: Governance Self-Assessment Guidance and Internal Audit Guidance. Both of these will act as a useful steer to organisations to ensure they are able to recognise and evidence good practice within their organisation, and identify areas for improvement.
As it was such a success last year, this conference will once again be open to both Governing Body Members and staff – ensuring a variety of different perspectives will be shared and discussed in this engaging and interactive two day conference.

About the Venue
We return to the Westerwood Hotel in Cumbernauld. A favourite with delegates, the hotel is located around 12 miles from Glasgow city centre, and offers good access to the road network from across Scotland. It has excellent conference facilities and offers well-appointed bedrooms which include a bath and separate shower, tea/coffee making facilities, hairdryer, satellite TV and complimentary wi-fi.
Courtesy transport is available from Glasgow and Edinburgh (subject to request) to Cumbernauld on Friday 1 September in time for registration and it return on Saturday 2 September following the close of the event. Transport is not available outside these times.

As our media partner, it will promote the conference via print and digital outlets. 24 Housing will have representatives at the conference who may wish to interview speakers, delegates or exhibitors. Speakers & Biographies
Lister Housing Co-operative Ltd
Louise is Chairperson of Lister, having been Chair for the last two years, and a Management Committee member since 2010. She was also on the Committee in the late 1980s and Chair for two years then too. She brings considerable Human Resources work experience to her position on the Lister Committee.
Lister Housing Co-operative Ltd
Alistair, Director of the Lister Housing Co-operative, started at Lister 27 years ago having previously worked in the local authority housing sector in England. He has a good working knowledge of governance and constitutional matters, not just from Lister but also from voluntary work with some 3rd sector bodies. He is a Fellow of the CiH.
