Preparing for the Passivhaus equivalent
Online Webinar

Tue, 28 May from
14:00 to 15:00 (BST)

Online Webinar,

About the webinar:

The webinar will also cover retrofitting existing homes and how EnerPHit principles - the Passivhaus retrofit standard – might be used in the context of a new Social Housing Net Zero Standard (SHNZS).

In anticipation of the Scottish Government’s Energy Standards Review and consultation on proposals for the introduction of a Scottish equivalent to the Passivhaus standard, this webinar will outline the expected changes, how these will affect Housing Associations and how to develop a strategy in response.

The Social Housing Net Zero Standard is also due to be introduced, which will set the standards for existing homes. With properties requiring retrofit to meet this, understanding and utilising EnerPHit principals can help Housing Associations meet their obligations for improving energy efficiency and reducing fuel poverty.

Changeworks will be joined by Collective Architecture to discuss how to build a strategy for the design and delivery of new-build social housing to meet the Passivhaus Standard, touching on some of the challenges and benefits of implementing Passivhaus at scale.

We will also discuss how EnerPHit principles can support meeting the proposed Social Housing Net Zero Standard in retrofitting existing homes, taking a fabric first approach to improving energy efficiency, reducing energy bills and improving resident comfort and wellbeing.

Benefits of attending:

Attendees will hear from SFHA’s strategic partners Changeworks, as well as Collective Architecture. Collective Architecture’s experience in designing and delivering Passivhaus homes, both for new build and retrofit, alongside Changeworks experience in supporting Housing Associations with energy efficiency and decarbonisation, will provide an overview of Passivhaus and the likely changes to the building standards.

Who should attend:

This webinar is aimed at Housing Associations interested in the development of new homes and staff interested in delivering retrofit.

Collective Architecture:

Collective Architecture is a 100% Employee-owned architecture practice with a strong track record of design and delivery of social housing, working with a significant number of Housing Associations and Social Landlords across the UK to deliver homes that are socially and environmentally sustainable.

The practice is founded on the principles of promoting participation and sustainability in architecture. In 2020 they established Collective Energy, a consultancy service that develops and promotes the implementation of low energy, sustainable and regenerative design within the practice and the wider industry.
