About the Conference
50,000 Homes: Working in Partnership to Build Homes, Meet Need and Improve Lives
Housing associations are the main providers of new affordable housing and have a strong track of building better places and strengthening communities.
This year’s Development Conference comes as the housing association sector continues to work to deliver the unprecedented 50,000 homes target.
The conference will look at what we need to do to deliver the homes
- Partnership working – with other associations, with local authorities, with developers and contractors
- Innovation – whether using off-site construction and technical innovation or new means of funding
In addition to a focus on delivering 50,000 homes to meet housing need, the conference will also look at the wider benefits that £3billion public funds must bring – including better places that promote wellbeing, jobs and community benefits and housing for older people and people with particular needs. This thread will run through the Development Conference and link to our Procurement Conference the following day.
Finally the conference will look beyond current targets to ask how can we deliver more homes and better places longer term – looking at opportunities presented by a new planning bill and through land reform and asking do we need to reform our housing system?
Over 140 delegates joined us in 2017 and hope to see you at next years conference.
