Barrhead Housing in partnership with East Renfrewshire Council has launched a campaign to buy private homes to increase the social housing available locally.
Through Scottish Government funding, the social housing partners are aiming to add an additional 20 homes to their stock through this campaign.
By selling to the Council or Barrhead Housing, sellers can benefit from offers up to home-report value from a chain-free cash buyer, while avoiding estate agent fees and the need for multiple viewings. They will also work to the seller’s preferred timescales.
Housing and Environment Convener, Councillor Danny Devlin said: “Our aim with this campaign is simple – we want to increase the number of council homes available to local people; and this is just one of the ways we’re working to tackle the local housing crisis we declared last year. If you're a homeowner thinking about moving, we could be the perfect buyer for you. Our teams can offer a straightforward, supportive way of selling your home, so please get in touch.”
Barrhead Housing Chief Executive Lorna Wilson said: “This is an important element of the strategic agreement we signed with the Council. Selling your home doesn’t have to be stressful, we will guide you through every step of the process. With our support, you can move on with confidence, while helping to provide more much-needed affordable homes in your community.”

This joint campaign forms part of strategic agreement the Council and Barrhead Housing recently committed to. It formally recognised how the two providers will work together to increase and improve housing supply and services, contribute to regeneration, provide support for the most vulnerable and progress carbon reduction.
