SFHA Sector Associate Consilium discusses their IT solution for City Building Glasgow
Consilium UK is a leading Scottish IT Company partnered with the world’s leading IT companies offering security, cloud, telecoms and support. As an SFHA Associate member, Consilium are keen to work with housing associations and have exclusive offers for members. They are here to assist in these challenging times and beyond.
City Building Glasgow is a highly successful provider of construction, maintenance, manufacturing and training services with a turnover of circa £200m.
City Building Glasgow approached Consilium with their vision of providing a modern desktop to users through virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI). The new environment had to provide IT with the flexibility, agility and scalability required in order to meet the business's new goals and growth, but also to take back control to standardise and secure the environment. New end-user working patterns demanded the ability to access applications and data from anywhere in a consistent way using a range of different devices including desktops, notebooks, smartphones and tablets.
Citrix XenDesktop and Nutanix were delivered as a joint solution to deliver scalability, predictive and intensive performance for the new platform. Through VDI City Building Glasgow has been able to extend the life of their desktop infrastructure, repurposing many PC’s as thin client devices. In addition to transforming office-based workers, mobile users now benefit from anywhere, anytime, secure access to applications and services.
Angela Murphy, Corporate Information Manager at City Building Glasgow said: "Our hyper-converged solution has revolutionised our desktop environment improving performance, scalability and resilience whilst driving down operational costs.”
