Phase 1 of a new round of a £7.25 million fuel poverty fund, which will help social landlords to support tenants who are struggling with fuel costs, has now opened and expressions of interest should be submitted by close of play today (25 May).
The fourth round will run until March 2024 and will support activities such as expanding the capacity of energy advice services, provision of energy efficiency measures, small appliances, essential items fuel crisis intervention and debt relief.
The Social Housing Fuel Support Fund is funded by the Scottish Government and managed and administered by the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations (SFHA). It aims to provide practical support to social landlords’ tenants to mitigate fuel poverty, and to help them to manage, or reduce, their fuel costs.
Phase 1 of the project will fund activities which aim to increase the sector’s capacity to support tenants with energy advocacy and advice.
Phase 2 of the fund will the provision of energy efficient measures for Social Housing tenants including small appliances and essential warm items.
Phase 3 will address crisis intervention and debt relief in the winter months. Phase 2 will launch in the summer months and phase 3 will open for applications in October 2023.
Applying for Phase 1 projects
Phase 1 is aimed at expanding the provision of energy advocacy and advice services through procurement of external services, upskilling staff by providing training or funding a temporary internal post to support delivery of energy advice services. This includes consortium bids where applicants wish to share a resource or service across more than one organisation

Submitting an interest
- Expressions of interest should be submitted by to funding@sfha.co.uk by Thursday 25 May and are welcome from RSLs across Scotland.
- Submissions will be reviewed before applications are encouraged.
- Successful submissions will receive a direct application link by Friday 2 June.
- Applications will remain open until 16 June before being scored by the panel.
