Residents in the Borders towns of Jedburgh and Hawick are being invited to give their views on proposed plans for Scottish Borders Housing Association’s ‘Garages to Homes’ project, at two consultation events next week.
SBHA is considering building homes at three separate sites in Lothian Road in Jedburgh, and in four locations in Hawick: Ramsay Road, Bothwell Court, Branxholme Road and Borthaugh Road. The association is keen to hear the views of those living in these areas, prior to submitting an official planning application.
The Jedburgh consultation will take place at the Kenmore Hall on Tuesday 1 November from 16:00–19:00. The consultation for Hawick will take place the following day, Wednesday 2 November, in the Catholic Church Hall, 15 Buccleuch Street, between 15:00 and 18:45. People will have an opportunity to view the proposed plans and give their feedback.
Garages to Homes involves the repurposing of some of SBHA’s garage sites to provide high-quality, energy-efficient accessible homes for older people or those with limited mobility. With an increasing need for such homes in the Borders, this project could provide an excellent solution, allowing people to downsize if they choose to do so to a more suitable home, while continuing to live in their own community. We are keen to hear the thoughts of as many residents as possible on our suggested plans.
