Last week, we introduced the new SFHA Members Community — a refreshed space designed to help members connect, share ideas and support one another across the sector.
Since then, it’s been great to see early conversations starting to take shape. What’s already becoming clear is how naturally the platform can fit into day-to-day work, offering a simple way to tap into shared knowledge when you need it most.
The Members Community isn’t about adding another task to your to-do list. Instead, it’s there to support the work you’re already doing. Whether you’re exploring a new policy area, facing an operational challenge, or looking for examples of best practice, the community gives you a direct line to peers who may have tackled something similar.
Rather than searching in isolation, you can quickly sense-check ideas, gather perspectives, or learn from others’ experiences.
The topic areas reflect the breadth of activity across the sector - from Finance and Governance to Energy, Housing Management, Development, and Digital and IT.
This means you can focus only on what’s relevant to you. By subscribing to specific topics, you’ll see updates and conversations that align with your role, without being overwhelmed by information.
Over time, these spaces will build into valuable knowledge hubs, shaped by the questions, insights and discussions shared by members themselves.
Some of the most useful insights come from practical, real-world experience. The community creates an opportunity to learn from colleagues across different organisations, whether that’s recommendations for training, approaches to common challenges, or lessons learned from recent projects.
Even simply following a thread can offer useful context or spark ideas that you can apply in your own work.
The way you use the community is entirely up to you. You might dip in occasionally when a question arises, follow specific threads of interest, or take a more active role in starting discussions.
Notifications are there to support you, not distract.
As more members begin to use the platform, its value will continue to grow. Each question asked, each response shared, and each discussion followed contributes to a collective resource that benefits the whole sector.
If you haven’t explored it yet, now is a great time to take a look. Browse a topic, follow a conversation, or ask a question that’s been on your mind.
The Members Community is there to support you, whenever you need it.
