Ayrshire Housing’s new Director of Housing and Communities is going back to her roots in her new role.

Alison Lamont started her life in housing with East Ayrshire Council before embarking on a career that taken her to Dumfries and Galloway and Glasgow, now she is back home.

‘Moving from a large organisation to a smaller, community focused association will be a culture change, but I’m really looking forward to getting to know the communities, neighbourhoods and people we support. I’m originally from Ayrshire so it’s a bit of a homecoming,’ said Alison.

Ayrshire Housing was established in 2003 through the merger of Carrick Housing Association and South Ayrshire Homes. Since then it has grown rapidly to become one of the area’s leading providers of high quality, affordable rented housing managing 1700 homes in both urban and rural environments.

As Director of Housing and Communities Alison will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight across all tenant services, housing management, community engagement, and support functions.

‘Alison’s role is central to delivering the organisation’s mission of providing high-quality, affordable homes and building vibrant, inclusive communities across Ayrshire and I’m delighted to welcome her,’ said Ayrshire Housing’s chief executive, Lesley-Anne Junner.

She will lead a team committed to delivering tenant-centred services that are responsive, fair, and continually improving. Other responsibilities include shaping and implementing housing strategy, ensuring regulatory compliance, promoting community resilience, and driving innovation in service delivery.

‘Guided by Ayrshire Housing’s strong social purpose, my role ultimately aims to ensure that the housing and community services we provide continue to meet the evolving needs of the people and places we serve,’ added Alison.

‘One of the biggest challenges we face as a sector is providing houses that are fit for our tenants’ future needs. This will enable them to live independently for longer, so making sure we have adequate numbers of adaptations will be a priority.’

Alison was most recently Locality Housing Director with Wheatley Homes Glasgow.
