Kids clean up during Wheatley Homes Glasgow Environmental Week of Action

Communities across the region are cleaner and greener thanks to an environmental week of action by a Glasgow social landlord. 

Staff from Wheatley Homes Glasgow, part of Wheatley Group, arranged a series of events across the region from Monday 20 March to Friday 24 March. 

Highlights from the week saw hundreds of volunteers out litter picking in Scotstoun, Drumchapel and Milton. 

School kids from St Paul’s Primary in Whiteinch, Drumchapel High and Milton Bank School and nursery, collectively gathered more than 200 bags of rubbish from their local areas. 

Throughout the week Wheatley Neighbourhood Environment Teams (NETs) were also out in force improving communal spaces for residents across Glasgow. This included upgrading benches and garden furniture and tree planting projects to rejuvenate garden spaces and unused land.

“We are very proud of the work undertaken by our NETs service and other Wheatley staff all week throughout Glasgow. 

“The difference this week has made on our local areas is brilliant and hopefully encourages keep up the work our staff and volunteers have started. 

“The Week of Action was about showcasing the work carried out by our NETs staff and it was great to see customers, school pupils and other volunteers get involved.
